The children paired up to support one another during the crate stacking challenge, acting as steady anchors while their partners carefully climbed higher and higher with the goal of ringing the bell at the top of the barn!
Year 5 have enjoyed an amazing few weeks, rounded off by their fantastic residential at Peat Rigg. The children embraced every challenge, developed impressive independence and showed real teamwork throughout their stay. As a school, we are committed to offering a rich and progressive residential programme: Year 4 begin with their one‑night adventure at The Deep, Year 5 build on this with a two‑night stay at Peat Rigg, and Year 6 complete our residential journey with a school week in the Lake District. These experiences play a vital role in building confidence, resilience and lifelong memories for our pupils.
There are so many fantastic photographs on Class Dojo capturing their adventures - here are just a few highlights.
The children paired up to support one another during the crate stacking challenge, acting as steady anchors while their partners carefully climbed higher and higher with the goal of ringing the bell at the top of the barn!
The pupils were incredibly brave tackling the abseil from the viaduct, with many eager to go back for a second turn - some even showing off their adventurous side by hanging upside down on the way down!
The children also got hands-on experience learning the art of building a fire safely, picking up essential outdoor skills while learning how to respect and manage a flame under close supervision.
The groups showed amazing teamwork on Jacob's Ladder, encouraging and pulling each other up the giant swinging rungs to reach the very top together.
After all their hard work building the fire, the kids were rewarded with the best part - toasting delicious, gooey marshmallows (vegetarian option available so everyone could join in the treat)!
The children had a thrilling first experience caving, turning the dark underground tunnels into an exciting treasure hunt where they had to work together to locate hidden "diamonds" and report back their exact spots.
The pupils absolutely loved the thrill of the zip line, cheering each other on as they took a leap of faith and soared through the air with giant smiles on their faces!
The children had a blast working together to navigate the "guttering challenge," where they had to carefully coordinate as a team to keep the ball moving through pipes without it ever touching the ground.
The children also took aim at some fun archery games, developing their focus and coordination as they practiced their technique to hit the targets!
The kids had a hilarious time trying to coordinate their movements on the giant wooden skis, quickly learning that clear communication was the only way to get the team moving in the same direction!
To wrap up the adventure, the children put their problem-solving skills to the ultimate test in a "defuse the dynamite" challenge, which required them to stay calm and work together as a tight-knit team to save the day!
