East Boldon Neighbourhood Forum and Durham Wildlife Trust have been busy planting around the Boldon Flats. They contacted us and asked whether some of our children would be keen to help replace the hedgerows and look after thewildlife around the nature reserve. On the day we visited a little ringed plover, several black tailed godwits, an egret and kestrels were observed at the water's edge. These visitors remind us the importance of the site. In an hour, the children planted around 50 saplings.  It was wonderful to receive a letter from the Chair of the East Boldon Neighbourhood Forum with lovely comments such as: "The children's conduct was excellent, their enthusiasm inspirational and their help greatly appreciated." We are going to share these images with the children in assembly and learn about the importance of this extraordinarily rich site. They were a credit to the school and the community.
