We feel so privileged that The National Gallery visited us here on our doorstep - what an amazing experience for our pupils and the wider community. Every class met Alex Bowie, artist and art historian, for a look at some of the collection. The children posed questions and justified their thoughts when looking at the works.

Throughout history, flowers have been widely represented in the arts, with painters, in particular, drawn to their fragile beauty. From Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” to Monet’s “Water Lilies," flowers have served both decorative and symbolic purposes in the works of great masters.
Families and the wider community met gallery educator and artist Alex Bowie for a talk exploring floriography, the language of flowers, within the National Gallery's collection.
