The purpose of the residential trip to Peat Rigg in North Yorkshire was to develop the children's independence, teamwork and resilience! All of the activities were designed with these three skills in mind. The pupils and staff had a brilliant few days in the sunshine.

Teamwork and independence are so important to children. The instructors supported the staff to make this a priority on the trip so the children rose to the challenge to manage their needs and support one another

It felt like a huge challenge to abseil from the viaduct but some of the children ed so much confidence that they were happy to lower themselves upside down from it!

Jacob's Ladder is a great activity to develop team work and show the children that they can achieve more together than solo.

The zipline course was such a thrill!

We let our arrows fly and enjoyed the mathematical challenge of adding up the totals. This activity challenged our concentration and focus.

Bushcraft was the ideal way to look at nature and understand some of the fundamentals of safety around the fires that we built. The toasted marshmallows were delicious!

Some children really proved that they can push themselves to achieve by communicating and showing resilience. 'One more step' is the theme to achieving the tree climb and before you knew it - children were ringing the bell from the top of the route!

Another teamwork activity - crate stack climbing. As a team, pairs had to help each other balance atop the towering crate stack and ring the bell. The team below had to work together to keep the ropes tight.
