We had scientists from the University of Sunderland in school this morning to teach pupils in all year groups about the heart and lungs as part of our World Anatomy Day celebrations.

The children measured the heart rates before and after exercise and also inflated and deflated a model set of lungs.

When asked ‘Who needs to learn about human anatomy?’ the children had so many excellent answers: doctors, nurses, paramedics, surgeons, physiotherapists, artists and they added that vets would need to understand the anatomy of animals. Good thinking, EBJ!
