At East Boldon Juniors, our Computing Learning Schemas - known as our Golden Threads - run seamlessly through every stage of a child’s learning journey. These Golden Threads represent the key concepts, skills and behaviours that pupils revisit, strengthen and apply in increasingly sophisticated ways as they progress through school. They weave through each unit and year group, connecting prior knowledge with new learning so that children build a deep, secure understanding of computing over time. Importantly, these threads extend beyond a pupil’s time at our school, linking to the foundations laid in earlier years and supporting the transition into future learning. By consistently revisiting core ideas such as digital literacy, computational thinking, online safety and creative problem-solving, our Golden Threads ensure coherence, continuity and progression, empowering pupils to grow as confident, independent and resilient digital learners.
